They are being used for gays and couples to meet but due to it being next to a school, Police are monitoring the area from 8.00am until 2.00am so it *must* be good! Cobham - Picnic area, off A2(M) ten miles south of Dartford, three miles north of the Medway bridge, off the left hand side of the London-bound carriageway, but accessible from both directions. Popular with straights and gays, with occasional shows from exhibitionists. No warden but regular Police visits to discourage gay pick-ups at night. Regular, non-aggressive Doggers. Crayford - "There is a place at Crayford which I have been told about but not yet visited. Go up the A2 London bound and turn off at Crayford. Head towards Crayford and pick up signs for waste site. There is a car-park there which is supposed to be OK for shows on a night. |

Follow road towards S'oaks, then at R'about at Badgers Mount, turn into Shacklands Road, then 2nd turn right. (Marked). Good action most nights with couples/gays. Loads of woodland walks. But beware of very frequent Police patrols (some with dogs -they use the area for training?) especially at night.The Police know of the sites 'attractions' and pay a lot of attention, so be careful Best avoided in daytime as loads of kids/families. The local Council have discussed the issues and are about to decide whether to permanantly close the lay-by. | Location Update : A249 Lay-by, nr. 3 Squirrals PH, Detling Further to my last mailing, Kent County Council announced last week (14/1) that the lay-by on the A249, nr the Three Squirrals PH, between Maidtone & Sittingbourne will be closed completely in the near future. This is as a result of numerous complaints from motorists & residents regarding the activities of gays and 'doggers' both in the lay-by and the wooded area adjacent to it. The Police have been busy at that location in the past weeks, and dispite media 'warnings' several men and couples have been cautioned or arrested for offences relating to public decency. Apparently the Police activity will continue right up until closure, so, if you are tempted for 'one last look', I would advise against it! Will post again when a definate date for closure is known. | Location Update : A249 Stockbury Lay-By Kent County Council has decided that this lay-by will now definately close in the very near future, initially for a trial period of 6 months, following continued use of the venue by 'doggers & perverts' (Their words, not mine) for acts of anti-social behaviour. It is reported that in the past 2 months over 20 people have been arrested at the location for indecency offences at the lay-by. Will post again when the place is actually closed off. | Location Update : A249 LayBy - Detling Further to my earlier mailings on this location, Kent County Council has delayed a final decision on the closure date for this lay-by due to pressures from truck drivers who need suitable alternative locations to spend their mandatory rest periods.Despite the delay, the Police will still be paying particular attention to the lay-by to manage the excessive use of the it by perverts,homosexuals and doggers.(Councils words, not mine!). Not only is it dark and secluded at night with ample shrubbery surrounding it, but it also have the incredible advantage of having the Loo's open for 24hrs. Imagine that? Not only that, but Chilham is pretty much central to most parts of Kent. So, what are we all waiting for? Let's do it! I'm there most nights.
